This was my first James Patterson read, another thrilling whodunit mystery. I just kept on turning the pages, eager to find out who the killer was. The story took an unexpected turn around Part Three. After reading a bit further, I figured out who the killer was before the killer was revealed. I absolutely hate it when that happens. I was disappointed until I got to the very end, when the story took yet another unexpected turn. That's what I look for when I read a mystery novel. I like to be kept guessing until the very end. I will definitely continue with the Women's Murder Club series, see what's next for these women.

First in the Women's Murder Club series. A thriller by Patterson introducing Lindsey Boxer and her friends. They're working to bring a serial killer, known as the Bride & Groom murderer, to justice. Lots of twists and turns.

I am reading this book with a book club group and I loved it. I never have ready this type of book before - Murder - Mystery, but I really enjoyed it.

Lindsay Boxer is a homicide detective working on a case involving the murder of newlyweds. Two bodies are found in the honeymoon suite the day after a wedding. Both the bride and groom were stabbed. One day later a pair of newlyweds disappear shortly after exchanging vows. A killer is targeting newly married couples, so a task force is created. Lindsay discusses the case with her friends over lunch. Claire is a medical examiner. Jill is an assistant district attorney. Cindy is a reporter who is new to the crime beat. All of the ladies are interested in solving this case and believe that their expertise will help do so.

This is the first book in the Women's Murder Club series. I didn't care for Lindsay. She was the tough cop who had to prove herself in a job full of men. She was very brusque. I didn't like her style at all. Of course, she also had a serious medical problem to deal with, and a new partner for this case.

I like the idea of the women banning together to solve some cases; but I didn't care for the execution. Lindsay latched onto a suspect and wouldn't let go. She was looking for clues that would prove that she had the right guy. That is a good way to arrest the wrong guy. I listened to the audiobook narrated by Suzanne Toren. She did a good job with the character voices, but the whole reading was very melodramatic. Maybe I would have enjoyed reading the book more. My rating: 3.5 Stars.

While I really enjoyed the plot from this book, I doubt I will finish the series. The relationships came across as forced and the dialogue didn't read as realistic either.. came across as a man writing how he THOUGHT a woman would act/speak/think/interact. The character development didn't ring true... It's an ok read.

The killer wonders "What is the worst thing anyone has ever done?", as he sets out to do worse.

San Francisco homicide investigator, Lindsay Boxer, is called to the most disturbing crime scene, a young couple has been murdered on their wedding night, the bride still in her wedding gown. This horrifying scene lays heavy in Lindsay's mind.

As the investigation begins, another murder is committed, again another young couple on their wedding night.

1st To Die" is the first novel in a brand new series, and what a great novel it is. The plot races along, combining the murders, devistating health issues for Lindsay, and some romance, twisting and turning all the way to the shocking the conclusion.
