Rock Hudson was one of the top 10 stars in Hollywood for eight straight years (1957 - 64). I thought the author explained enough about Hudson's early life to show that he would have been confused about sexual orientation. Hudson always had a woman on his arm that dispelled rumors about his orientation. However, it seems he was bisexual.

The book recounts some of Hudson's most famous movie roles. I'd forgotten that he moved to television with MacMillan and Wife. Then, he did a stage play with Carol Burnett called "I Do! I Do!" That role called for Hudson to sing and dance.

But Hudson is better known for his later personal life. Hudson was probably one of the first major celebrities to die of AIDS (in 1985). However, as his story came out, it raised awareness and funding for research into fighting the deadly disease.

The author tells the last months of Rock Hudson's life within the framework of the five stages of grief. I thought the author did that exceptionally well.
