Looking for suggestions on good werewolf books. They're my favorite thing to read about (except the Abhorsen Trilogy) :) Any suggestions are welcome :)

The big one I can think of is Patricia Briggs' Mercedes Thompson series.  Moon Called (Mercy Thompson, Bk 1)  It's about a shapeshifting mechanic who slowly gets more and more involved with the local werewolf pack (and the pack leader) over the course of the series.

There's Ilona Andrews' Kate Daniels series.  Magic Bites (Kate Daniels, Bk 1)  Set in a sort of post appocolyptic Atlanta where emerging magic is interfering with technology.  Kate is a kind of cop for supernatural problems.

Gail Carriger's Parasol Protectorate series.  SOULLESS I haven't read this yet, but I keep hearing it's good.  Steampunk, from what I understand.

Jim Butcher's Dresden Files series.  Fool Moon (Dresden Files, Bk 2)  The 2nd book deals mainly with various types of werewolves, and there's a group of werewolves that remain minor characters for the rest of the series, though they don't appear in every book.  (I can't pass up a chance to rec The Dresden Files even if it's not really about werewolves. It stars a wonderfully sarcastic wizard private eye.)

These are some of the more popular werewolf series that I've liked.  But werewolves really popular at the moment and there's probably thousands of them out there.  Were you looking for something with a lot of romance? Hiistorical?  Funny? Urban fantasy, detective type?

Kitty Norville series by Carrie Vaughn

Riley Jenson series by Keri Arthur

Otherworld series by Kelley Armstrong (not all the books feature werewolves, but I believe that 4 or 5 of them do).

Are you looking for more romance, or more urban fantasy?

Prowlers by Christopher Golden

Kitty and The Midnight Hour Series

Stray by Rachel Vincent (not a werewolf but a werecat, very good)

Last Wolf Standing by Rhyannon Byrd

I have a ton more, but my notebook isn't with me at the moment (I keep a notebook with all the books I've read, just in case I wanna reccomend or need the title again :)

Give The Pack: Winter Kill by Mike Oliveri a try.  It is a pretty good book with a second in the series on the way (Lie with the dead).  Another good one is Shapeshifter by J.F. Gonzalez

Benighted by Kit Whitfield puts a really interesting spin on the werewolf concept by making the majority population of the world werewolves, and non-shifting humans a minority subject to much discrimination, but also in charge of policing the werewolves on full-moon nights

I'll just go ahead and make a plug for my favorite werewolf movies and shows, though you didn't ask :-) Dog Soldiers is great, so is Ginger Snaps (it also has two sequels which are fun, but not as great), and the original, British version of the TV show "Being Human" does a great job exploring the challenges a werewolf passing as human would encounter while holding down a job, making friends, dating, etc.

i love werewolf stories, but most of the ones i've seen seem to be urban fantasy series that go on and on and every book is about one character which i get bored of. Mirna, I liked the gingerbread snaps movie the last one was also pretty good at least in my opinion. I might try the mercy thompson series though i keep seeing people recommend it.

Ann Rice (author of the Vampire Chronicles) has written a couple of werewolf books in the last 5 years or so. They are set in California, present day, very lush writing.

Titles: "The Wolf Gift", then "The Wolves of Midwinter." It's a series.
