One of the best books I have ever read! It shows how one person can really make a difference in the life of others. Greg Mortenson attempts to scale a mountain and does not make it to the top. Lost and struggling to stay alive, he is taken in and nursed back to health by villagers in Pakistan. He promises to build a school in this village to repay the kindness received by them. He goes on to a greater task than climbing a mountain. His heart and others are changed by his new challenge of building schools for many other villages. He helps raise money for the materials and the villagers give of their labor. It is a mutual endeavor. This book should be read by all our government foreign advisors and the people of our nation to show them the best way to earn the respect of the people of other countries.
