Because I read a great deal of history, the subject of the Ten Lost Tribes often occurs, although in a glancing manner. This book looked to be just what might tell the tale. But, of course, the Ten Lost Tribes remain lost because current archaeologists still cannot accurately pinpoint their locations.

While reading, I kept thinking that DNA evidence might eventually bring some clarity to this issue. Still, the author negated this by saying that the genetic markers would only prove early Jewish roots, "...not that they were descended from a particular lost northern Israelite tribe." (from the story's last page).

This is a thought-provoking read with an extensive bibliography. Unfortunately, a specific answer is unavailable, but the writer takes readers on a journey to see how the study and search for the lost tribes have changed over the generations.
