The first Phil Farmer I ever read. I now have the first two editions from Ace. Interesting to see how the price goes up over the years. Exciting, far flung future kind of stuff here. I have read this book countless times as I have 'Dark is the Sun' another great Farmer book of the distant future. I don't think I could have shown the restraint that Ulysses Singing Bear shows. But it would be fun "inventing" all the things that were forgotten. I highly recommend it.

The "hero" wakes up 20 million years after having all of his molecules frozen during a bizarre experiment. He learns that the new sentient creatures of earth have been revering his petrified form as a god. He proceeds to teach the primitives how to blow things up and fight wars on a grand scale.

The future environment and proposed evolutionary developments are interesting but the main character is a warmongering jerk.
