When I first read James H. Schmitz's THE WITCHES OF KARRES, I fell in love with his little witches and the good-hearted but sometimes bumbling Captain Pausert. Schmitz portrayed such a delightful mix of stellar civilizations and 'witch powers'!
I turned the last page with a sigh of disappointment---that there wasn't any more... and then I sat back down and started it over from page one.
Finally a couple authors felt the same way I did, that we really needed to know WHAT HAPPENED NEXT!
I'd heard rumor that Schmitz had actually written a sequel which somehow was lost or destroyed, but Eric Flint and Dave Freer have done a bang-up job that I suspect must be every bit as good as that lost novel. In any case, it is completely true to the style and characters of the original.
If you enjoyed THE WITCHES OF KARRES, you'll be disappointed when you get to the last page of THE SORCERESS OF KARRES for the same reason I was--- because, again, there isn't any more!
