I ordered this book after I finished reading "The Mouse and the Motorcycle" to my 6-year-old son. He loved the story of how Ralph runs away from home to the summer camp and finds adventures and new friends there. The Ralph Mouse books are the first chapter stories he has read, and as he learns to read he notices words he knows on the page. I would recommend this as a great way to start reading chapter books to your child. The characters are believable and entertaining, and the story will capture the imagination of a young child.

I loved the Ralph book as a kid. This book follows the adventures of Ralph, a mouse living with his family in an old hotel, as he leaves home and strikes out on his own, wanting adventure. When he comes to a summer camp, he gets more than he bargained for. He meets a hungry cat and a protective watchdog before being caught and put in a cage, with only a hamster for company. This children's book is a lot of fun, and has a prequel and a sequel. However, you can read and enjoy this book without reading them.

Ralph has made up his mind. He's going to run away. He's tired of being bossed around by his mother and Uncle Lester. He's fed up with his silly pesky little brothers and sisters. Ralph is determined to grow up to be something more than just another crumb-scrounging mouse at the Mountain View Inn.

A Kid's Review
Runaway Ralph is a totally awesome book to read, and I encourage you to read it too! This book is filled with laughs and a mouse and his motorcycle that are out of their minds for adventure. Ralph (the mouse) lives in an inn called Mountain View Inn and has to deal with his timid mom and uncle and many little bratty cousins. Finally, he decides he has had enough and escapes on his motorcycle to Camp Happy Acres. However,Camp Happy Acres is not what he expects. Perhaps home isn't such a bad place to be.

Ralph, an energetic young mouse, is tired of life at the Mountain View inn. Over the Fourth of July weekend a boy named Keith gave him a mouse-sized motorcycle, but since then nothing exciting has happened. Hoping to find adventure, Ralph hops on his motorcycle and zooms away to the summer camp down the road. There he envisions fun, freedom, and delicious crumbs from peanut-butter-and-jelly sandwiches. Instead he runs head-long into a strict camp watchdog, a mouse-hungry cat, and even more fur-raising escapades. Suddenly home doesn't seem like such a bad place to be!
