A lovely book with imaginative characters that seem very real in writing. Historically, much is true during the reign of Louis XVI's reign. I really enjoyed the writing of a book about dollmaking and how the author tied that idea-in with Marie Antoinette and her love of dolls, especially the Parisian Pandores doll. Trent's portrayal of the character Claudette Laurent is fabulous. I enjoyed her writing about the construction of the dolls. Trent writes conveying many feelings; frivolity of the wealthy to purchase fabulous dolls, darkness & despair felt by Claudette when she is imprisoned. Trent has written an excellent book.
