It is the classical tale of good versus evil. Incorporating an intriguing mix of historical figures and beings from the future. The cyborg, Link, has traveled back in time to change the course of history. It hopes to destroy the Byzantine or Roman Empire. Link chooses the Malwa Empire of India to be its vehicle of change. By providing the Malwa with the knowledge of gun powder and explosives, Link calculates the Malwa Empire will be able to sweep all other countries aside. To counter the cyborg threat, a different set of future beings send a crystalline entity back to aid the Byzantium General, Flavius Belsarius, in combating Link and the Malwa Empire.
The utilization of actual historical figures, geographies, & situations make this a very fascinating book.
