Mr. Putter loves giving unique and thoughtful gifts at Christmastime. His neighbor, Mrs. Teaberry loves eating fruitcake at Christmastime. This is very strange to Mr. Putter, but then Mrs. Teaberry seems to like strange things.

He finally decides that he will bake Mrs. Teaberry a cake for Christmas. One light and airy and will not break a person't toe if dropped.

The only problem is that Mr. Putter does not have any accoutrements for baking a cake nor does he even know how. After a few tips and expensive supplies from Mary Sue at the Sweet Shop he is ready to bake.

You have to read the book to find out how Mr. Putter's baking experience goes and also to discover the strange gift he receives from Mrs. Teaberry.

We LOVE Cynthia Rylant's books and Mr. Putter and Tabby is our favorite series of hers. She is witty and succint. This series is great for reading out loud over and over and also great for new readers to read on their own.

The cover and title of this book would not have you guess that it is a Christmas story. But if you are needing some new title in your Christmas reading repertoire, you need this one!
