The second book in this very well written mystery series. The romance subplot is moving at a glacial pace, where they are just finally acknowledging their interest and attraction to each other. It's written in the first person, so we know what the heroine thinks and feels, but the hero's past is still mysterious. They're both real loners, and prickly types, so it's going to take a while for things to develop.
The mystery plot was rather dark and does not have a happy conclusion. If you are bothered by the horrible things done to people who were confined to insane asylums in the 19th century, you may find it disturbing.
