This is an exceptional book that is very well written. Its a very tough read, especially if you have personal connections to China and/or China adoption. As a parent of girls adopted from China, the book brought many tears to my eyes and made me want to throw up many, many times. However, the personal stories of women in rural China are moving regardless of your personal connections.

A tough book to get through especially if you have a child adopted from China. Provides a lot of insight into what has evolved from the early days of adoption up until recent times. Very descriptive allowing the reader to get a glimpse of what the unknown mothers have gone through and still go through today. It is so very sad what the women and children have had to endure over the years. I look at my adopted daughter through different eyes ...she is truly an incredible miracle!
