This is a Christian novel. It was really great with its character building and attachments you form with each one. The only issue I really had with this story is that there aren't scriptures (other than as a header to each part) or any bit of the characters going to the Bible for help, though there was a lot of prayer throughout it. A lot of it was about listening for God's voice without going to His Word to hear Him speak, so that bothered me.

The story begins where Kirsten's boyfriend of 3 years has been growing impatient with her since she has held back much of herself from him (emotionally and physically). She wants to get married but he doesn't seem to want to. She has a secret she's been hiding from everyone. She has self-injury problems and no one will understand her. There are scars all over her body that she doesn't want anyone to see or know about, especially Wes.

After things got crazy where she ended up in a hospital, her best option is to go with an ex-nun named Sister Frankie to her ranch to get healing. She would rather go there than stay in the hospital or be around Wes or her family. She needs to sort things out and figure out what to do with her life.
