Lucy is an endearing character; one you will think about long after you've finished this slim book. Knowing that she can pass for much older because she is a large girl, Lucy sets out to find her own life and income by joining a crab-fishing boat at the age of 15. The supporting characters are also memorable, but Lucy is someone you'd like to really know as she discovers a lot about herself and life after running away from her alcoholic father.
