âArchaeologists studying the systems of the Silk Road and the Incense Trade Route kept reading about a city-state called Alashiya. This segment of the trade routes (Alashiya) was a mystery. After considerable study, the scientists settled on three possibilities. Alashiya was somewhere in Cilicia, somewhere in Syria, or in Cyprus. Unfortunately, because scientists still can't decipher Cypro-Minoan script, the history of Alashiya and their prosperous copper trade isn't well known. However, they now believe Alashiya was in Cyprus.

Scientists have cobbled together information based on Akkadian, Egyptian, and Hittite texts. From these sources, they know that Alashiya was an important trade center because of the copper mined locally. However, eventually, Alashiya succumbed to the warrior bands that poured over them. These people are collectively known as the Sea Peoples, and archeologists are still studying them.
