A tale of England in the 1640s. In the aftermath of the Civil War and during the Parliament reign before the king was restored, a Puritan officer and a Royalist girl fall in love. the fear of witchcraft is used by men seeking power, and Major Giles Bradwell and Imelda Hallett are caught up in the struggle. This is Book 4 in the Conyngton series, the others being Fair Shine the Day, Spring Will Come Again, and The Changing Tide. Old fashioned action romances, well told.
