Laurence Olivier has to have been one of the most beautiful men ever created.  But he wasn't just a pretty face; he created a living Shakespeare for the masses.  Thank you for bringing out Laurence's early life.  His father must have been a wonderful man to have realized Laurence's talent and let him pursue it (even though his father was a minister and Laurence was very young when he displayed his abilities on stage).

I particularly appreciated the explanation of Olivier's relationship with Vivian Leigh. Smoking four packs of cigarettes per day certainly didn't help Vivian's tuberculosis.  Unfortunately, she seems to have had bipolar disorder too.  There were no medications or treatments in those days.  I'm sure both Laurence and Vivian suffered.

I thought this book was a good balance of work and personal information.Â
