Josie and Noah arrive at Noah's mother's house for Sunday dinner and find her dead. Why would anyone murder Colette Fraley? She was an upstanding member of the community with no known enemies. Josie helps search Colette's home and finds a bag of strange items hidden in her sewing machine. One item is a computer thumb-drive with "Pratt" written on it. Drew Pratt was the local District Attorney who disappeared over ten years ago. His whereabouts were never discovered. Josie looks into the Pratt disappearance and learns that he was last seen talking to an unknown woman. Was it Colette? Other items in the bag tie Colette to other people who died mysteriously. Did Colette have something to do with their deaths?

This is the 5th book in the Detective Josie Quinn series. I found it enthralling, especially since the character of Drew Pratt is based on real life Center County District Attorney Ray Gricar who disappeared mysteriously in 2005. I wanted to know how the author would solve the Pratt case since the Gricar case is still open.

Noah is devastated by his mother's death. His family descends on the small town demanding to know who killed Colette. Josie needs to support Noah while trying to help solve the case. There was a lot going on in this book with a series of deaths tied to the items that Colette had hidden. It was interesting to see how everything fell into place. My rating: 5 Stars.

This is a very good series and I recommend it to anyone, they are easy to read books with an ongoing story about Josie Quinn so start at the beginning

However, my rating for this one is only a 3*, the story in this book is very weak, it really doesn't fall under the genre of thriller but more just mystery, the main characters in this series are not put in a very good limelight as most of it is just impractical, I think the part that just irritated me the most was the reaction of Noah--I know when you lose someone everyone grieves different but in his case he is made out to be a wimp and acting more like a 10 yr old spoiled little boy, you would not push away your fiancé but include them in your grief, so that part of this story just got under my skin really bad, the storyline is just so ridiculous it was kind of hard not to laugh at some of the things going on with these people.

So hopefully the next book (which I already have on hand) will be better than this one.
