This tome appears to be a combination of 4 of his previous book, Basin and Range, Assembling California, In Suspect Terrain, and Rising from the Plains, plus some added material (40 or so pages) at the end. I say "appear", because he is, at heart, not one of those scientists who puts ideas in nice neat categories, but one of those namby-pamby English majors who abhor organization. I read the last part (written 1998) that gives fascinating insights to the Precambrian geology and how that plate tectonics differs from today's.

Numerous articles on the geology and history of many and diverse locales. Very interesting.
